Kohlii sighed as she wiped her brow of sweat. She had just reached the top of a tall hill. As she angled her gaze downward she saw a small town. It looked as if it had been deserted for a while, then built up again from scratch. A couple buildings were still in dislocated ruin.
Glancing at the sun, she decided it was noon. Shrugging, she walked down to the town. They looked like they could use a bit of help, and she could use a meal.
"Hello there!" She waved to a young man who was currently hammering nails into the side of a house. "My name is Kohlii, could you use some help building?"

James Oakley was busily fixing the roof on the house he had decided to resurrect to its former glory when a pretty blonde elf walked greeted him and offered her help. He frowned. She didn't look like the sort of person who worked on houses and ever since Galbatorax, the poor carpenter didn't trust anyone on sight.
James raised an eyebrow and glanced at her. "And what would you gain from this?"

The man had answered her. Kohlii didn't think he sounded very trusting. Perhaps it was because of the war that had just ended amongst the people of Alaga?sia. Deciding to just be frank with him, Kohlii shrugged. "A meal, and a place to sleep for the night if you'd be willing"
Glancing at the trees around her, she smiled. "I could just spend the night in one of these if you'd rather."

She wants to stay in the trees? James raised an eyebrow. He couldn't let a girl stay in a tree no matter how much he didn't know her. Dejectedly, James sighed. "Alright. You can stay."
He lifted his hammer and beckoned her over. Suddenly he began to panic. "Ack! I only have one hammer!" Quickly he improvised, grabbing a thick stick and a rock and tying them together with strips of leather he had on hand. "There!" He turned and grinned at the girl.

On the other side of the street sitting down against the wall of the general store was Ribab. He was just plain bored, as nothing really interesting really struck him that day, but then he looked up from the dust and he saw a colorful figure in town. Something out of the ordinary, it looked like an elf that was traveling and happened to come across this town. He was just observing though, nothing to get too interested in.

Kohlii smiled and took the hammer, pounding it softly on the flesh of her palm. "So where do we start?" Suddenly Kohlii froze, the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end. She turned her blue eyes to her left and met the eyes of a young man with twin swords strapped to his back. "Who's that?" she asked of the carpenter.

"That's just Ribab, a mercenary. You can ask him about his life if you want to learn more, but I'm not saying he's tell you anything" James rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. He handed the elf some nails and showed her how to hammer them into the wood. "You can just attach this board to the wall here while I cover up this hole over here" He gestured to another section of the wall a few feet away.
